Farm Shares

A farm share at Fern Homestead is a membership to a way of life

As a member, you'll take part in crop planning, planting, weeding, and harvest of most of the products you'll take home.

How does it work?

  • Your annual membership is paid in January and includes unlimited harvest of veggies, herbs, fruit, and cut flowers. Quantities of milk and eggs are only limited by the animals' production.

  • When you sign up, you'll choose your weekly pickup day-- you're welcome to make it a quick stop, or bring the family and a picnic. The milk from the previous day or two will be waiting in the fridge, the eggs on the counter, and the produce in the field.

  • We require 4 hours per month of member participation. Usually, that looks like two big planting days in March and May, and one hour of weeding per week April, June, July and August.

  • Members get first choice of available meat products. It's sold by weight at a half animal or whole animal. Harvests are in July and December.

  • Members are invited to attend any Fern Homestead workshops at no charge.

Our Philosophy

We believe everyone should be able to afford high quality food, so our pricing process begins with matching average grocery store prices, so an average person can afford a farm share. The growing costs not covered by this price are made up by creative management and the members' labor. Because our members help with planting and harvest, and because we sell our products before the growing season begins, we don't spend precious time on harvest, packaging, transport or marketing.

Farm Share sales for 2027 will begin in late 2026. Sign up for our mailing list or follow us on Instagram for announcements about available shares.
